When it comes to brake control innovation, quality, excellence, and most importantly customer satisfaction there are a very select few capable of matching Tekonsha Brake Controls. We here at Haylett's North Country don't simply sell Tekonsha Brake Controls--we use them ourselves. From the most basic of hand held brake control systems to the most advanced of self-adjusting intelligent systems, from Timed to Proportional Controls, and everything in between Tekonsha Brand Brake Controls have done it all and continue to unveil new feature-packed models on a consistent basis.

Tekonsha Engineering opened its doors in 1963 and at that time manufactured wooden steps for the Mobile Home Industry. In the mid 1960's they started manufacturing hydraulic brake controls (2014 & 2015). When the 70's came Tekonsha Engineering made a major break through, they were the first to break new ground with an electronic brake control (the sway control and the 2040). These units changed the company forever. They went on to manufacture the 2016 & 2017, which are hydraulic controls, and the 2030 & 2035, electronic controls.
In the early 90's Tekonsha introduced the Commander and Voyager proportional electric brake controls. In 1993 they followed with the AccuTrac, an inertia sensitive control and in 1995 the Sentinel was introduced as a monitoring unit.
March of 1999 was exciting for Tekonsha with the launch of a new proportional control, the Envoy. This unit has the best features of the Voyager and the Sentinel combined in one unit.
Tekonsha's newest self-leveling proportional control, the Prodigy, made an exhilarating release into the industry in February of 2001. It is the latest and most intelligent brake control from Tekonsha. This powerful control features new motion sensor technology similar to what is used in the aerospace industry.

Timed Brake Controls
Timed brake controls are great choices for your basic economical light-duty towing needs. These time actuated controls have solid state electronics and can be mounted in any position - horizontal, vertical, even turned upside down.
Digitrac II for 1 to 4 Axle Trailers
DigiTrac II is an excellent choice for heavier loads and changing load
conditions (as in transportation of horses or livestock). DigiTrac II is able to
detect the difference between a gradual deceleration and the stopping power
required for an unexpected event. It's advanced electronics and patented Inertia
Sensing System are designed for consistent and predictable stopping power. The
Inertia Sensing System uses two separate power delivery controls - one for "around town" gradual stopping and one for sudden stops.
- Separate slide controls adjust braking action for different towing loads
- Large easy to read dual digital display shows:
- Properly wired control
- Voltage output to brakes (vs. percentage)
- Connection to trailer
- Dark smoke lens ideal for direct light applications; performs better than red lens
- Protection against short circuit/loss of ground
- Standard mounting bracket & ball mount included
- For use on any 12 volt negative ground system
- Limited lifetime warranty
AccuTrac for 1 and 2 Axle Trailers
AccuTrac is inertia activated and especially suited for changing load conditions
(as in the transport of horses or livestock). It's advanced electronics and
patented Inertia Sensing System are designed for consistent and predictable
stopping power. The Inertia Sensing System uses two separate power delivery
controls for customized stopping power both in town and on the highway.
- Separate slide controls adjust braking action for different towing loads
- Solid state electronics
- Easy to set-up and adjust
- Positive LED indicator confirms brake connection
- Easy-to-reach manual over-ride control
- Mounting hardware included
- 5 year limited warranty
Pilot for 1 to 3 Axle Trailers
Pilot has a dark, smoke lens that is ideal for direct light applications,
creating optimum visibility to read the large, two-digit display. Pilot has
flexible mounting options and can be installed in any direction. Our
microprocessor allows you the ability to read the display even when mounted
upside down. The Pilot's digital display shows voltage output to the brakes.
- Large easy to read dual digital display shows:
- Properly wired control
- Voltage output to brakes (vs. a percentage)
- Connection to trailer
- Dark smoke lens ideal for direct light applications; performs better than red lens
- Protection against short circuit/loss of ground
- Microprocessor allows control to be mounted upside down and still have a readable display
- Standard mounting bracket included with optional ball mount available
- For use on any 12 volt negative ground system
- Limited lifetime warranty
Pod for 1 and 2 Axle Trailers
POD (Power on Demand) is your best choice for 1 or 2 axle trailers -
especially when your installation options are limited. POD can be mounted in any
direction, and features "up-front-easy-access" adjustment controls, even when
mounted upside down. POD is the perfect choice with almost vertical dash
mounting surfaces.
- Solid state electronics
- Power-on LED for a positive tow vehicle-to-trailer connection
- "Up- front" manual over-ride control
- Rugged, easy mount chassis
- Mounting hardware included
- Smooth and simple installation
- 5 year limited warranty
Proportional Controls
Proportional based controls offer a smooth braking response to almost any stop.
Through the use of a sensing device, the brake control can determine the tow
vehicle's rate of deceleration and then apply the trailer brakes to match. In
other words, Proportional controls deliver power to the trailer brakes in direct
relationship to the actual physical deceleration of the tow vehicle.
