UPPER BERN TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A family got a special surprise when they arrived at their campground on Saturday.
Camping volunteers at the Pennsylvania Dutch Campground in Upper Bern Township made over Marla Steckel's R-V to make it accessible for her son... Franki.
The 15-year-old suffers from spina bifida, tethered cord syndrome and epilepsy.
Franki cannot walk or crawl without assistance because of two seizures lasting longer than two hours he had in January.
"It's absolutely unbelievable," said Franki's mother Marlene Steckel. "The people that are here....for all of us and for Franki it's freedom."
Franki is currently going through rehabilitation at DuPont Hospital for Children.
The makeover is part of a new program unveiled by the campground called Extreme Makeover - Pennsylvania Dutch Campground Edition.
